Poets, philosophers, artists, and musicians, all knew and know the importance of giving life to the song of the soul and we'll talk about ways we can bring it into our daily lives.  The Song of the Soul is the highest and holiest part of ourselves that seeks expression through our lives.  We are unique and so is the song of our soul.

Sonya Haramis

Sonya discusses how sacred spaces and places can transform our lives and transform us if we are open to them.

Sacred places can even be in our homes – an altar, special room, etc.  Time seems to shift when we remove ourselves from our routines…sacred places can create passages and thresholds for us.  A sacred space is like a new mirror for us to see ourselves and remind us what we are a part of.”

Sonya Talks with Marie Herbert

Join Sonya Haramis this week on "Keeping the Path Lit" as she interviews Marie Herbert, author, guide in personal growth/development and in wilderness rites of passage. Marie will also talk about her husband, the late Sir Wally Herbert, a world-renowned explorer who was the first to make a surface crossing of the Artic Ocean, and who was guided by his dreams. Join Sonya and Marie as they discuss how we keep the path lit by loving life and ourselves, by listening to our inner voice and extending our boundaries.

Marie Herbert Marie Herbert is an author, guide in personal growth and development, and in wilderness rites of passage. Marie has lived with peoples all over the world including the Polar Inuit of Northwest Greenland, the Sami, and Native American medicine people. She brings the wisdom and experience gleaned from a lifetime's travel to helping people know themselves, discover their gifts and purpose, and to choose a path in line with their greatest destiny. She shows people how their inner and outer worlds relate, and how we may approach nature to find the answers to our deepest questions.

MARIE HERBERT was born in Dublin, brought up in Sri Lanka, and educated in South India. After three years at the Central School of Speech & Drama in London, and two years teaching English & Drama, she joined the P.R. company of Prince Uri Galitzine as a researcher. It was there, in 1968, that Marie met her future husband, polar explorer, Wally Herbert (now Sir Wally), just a few weeks before he set off on his historic journey by dog sledge across the Arctic Ocean via the North Pole - and they were married on Christmas Eve 1969, shortly after his return.

So began Marie's remarkable career as a traveller and writer. In August 1971 with her husband and their ten-month old daughter, Kari, the first of two, she went to live for two years among the northernmost tribe of Inuit, the Polar Eskimos, an adventure that prompted her first book, 'The Snow People'. Thirty-five years later, Marie is still receiving fan mail from readers of this book!

This was followed by a winter living among the Sami - the Reindeer Lapps - during which she joined the nomads on their spring migration from the mountains to the coast. Several more trips to Greenland, as well as research trips to Denmark, Greece, Australia, Zimbabwe and the Himalayas gave her more book material, and inspired her passion for the exploration of Ancient Wisdom and the unfolding of human potential.

Her first novel, 'Winter Of The White Seal' which is set in the Antarctic, at the time of its discovery by the sealer, has been translated into nine languages. 'Healing Quest' chronicles her 'transformational' journey among the Native Americans in New Mexico after the death of her younger daughter Pascale, and it has been described by Bel Mooney as a book that has resonances for everyone. 'It is one of the wisest and most moving accounts of a personal bereavement I have ever read, and a book that will encourage those who feel their lives to be generally without direction'. More recently Marie has been working on The Journey of Life – a book based on the medicine wheel teachings; a second novel; and The Way of the Explorer –a tribute to her husband Sir Wally which she hopes will inspire others to explore more of their world and their natural gifts and talents.

Daniel Stief
Sonya is welcomed by Daniel Stief, Creator of Sedona Talk Radio. They have a conversation about Sonya's New Talk Show, her life and her books.

Sonya Haramis is a spiritual storyteller. "I've been blessed with this gift," she says. In her new book Gracious Gifts...Expressions of the Divine, Sonya shares her gift with the world.

"I've always felt close to Spirit, but kept these writings private until this book," Sonya explains. Gracious Gifts began as personal meditations. She never intended to share these private meditations and writings until she was led to read them to a family member, who was speechless after Sonya read them to her. Then Sonya read the same chapter to a dear friend and he was speechless. "I then realized I was supposed to share what I had written, and not keep it private," says Sonya.
